Laman Hendricks

Acrobatic Gymnast, Azerbaijani and Georgian folk dancer, teacher, choreographer

Artistic Director and Founder of Dances of Caucasus

Born and raised in Azerbaijan and Türkiye, Laman Hendricks studied classical ballet and folk dances, graduating from the Baku Choreography Academy in Azerbaijan. Additionally, she spent several years as a member of the national gymnastics team, as well as founding the first post-Soviet national women’s cycling team of Azerbaijan.

During her athletic career, Laman was a silver medalist in both cycling and mountain climbing. In 2015, Laman competed at the Rakkas Istanbul International Dance Festival, winning an award in the folk category for her unique performance as a male Caucasus dancer. Since then, she has taught and performed at various festivals and events both in the United States and internationally.

Laman has also served local communities through teaching about Azerbaijani history, culture, and dance at various public schools in the United States. Laman Hendricks continues her career performing and teaching the techniques of classical ballet, gymnastics, Middle Eastern dances and the folk dances of Azerbaijan and Georgia locally and internationally.

Vivienne Bennett

Rhythmic Gymnast, Ballerina, Azerbaijani folk dancer Member of Dances of Caucasus

Vivienne Bennett was born in Bristol, England. She moved to Azerbaijan in 2006 and began studying rhythmic gymnastics and classical ballet at the age of four. One of her coaches is Elena Cherevatova, Ballet Mistress of the Azerbaijani Rhythmic Gymnastics National Team and the Opera Ballet of Azerbaijan. Vivienne moved to Anchorage, Alaska in 2012 where she continued rhythmic gymnastics, ballet, and Azerbaijani dance with Laman Hendricks and Elena Cherevatova. She was a finalist in the Great Alaska Talent Competition in 2016.

Vivienne participated in the Youth America Grand Prix semi-finals in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 2017. She was a member of the Alaska Dance Theatre Performing Company in its 2016-2017 season. She is currently a member of Ballet Austin Academy and Dances of Caucasus.

As well as rhythmic gymnastics, ballet, and Azerbaijani dance, Vivienne has also studied Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, American Theater, and Hip Hop.
